Creedence Clearwater Revival, often shortened to Creedence and abbreviated as CCR, is an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and still and loved active today, with 158 albums and 386 songs. Creedence has a good reason for their amazing success.
The lead singer of Creedence, John Fogerty: said, “I’m never very far away from it. I have a guitar in my hands every day, and I pretty much get in about four hours of practice every day. I’m still very much trying to get better. I practice really hard, every day. I started that about 13 or 14 years ago; it’s a discipline now.” And he still does!
To think that I played the drums in a rock band, the RainCoach, in 1967/8/9 that played Creedence songs – Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Have You Ever Seen the Rain – and Mr. Fogerty is still playing, and still practicing FOUR HOURS A DAY! That’s how people become great and how the stay great.
In business, I see how hard entrepreneurs work and the money and time they spend to make money, to build their businesses, to overcome failure and loss and difficulties, and the costs involved. In return, they create wealth and freedom and value and provide work and income and benefits to many people. But it’s an ongoing effort to improve and keep up with new developments, to evolve, to handle new challenges along the way.
The main reasons why people fail in business, in fact in any endeavour, is a lack of motivation and perseverance, the refusal to work hard and remain focused, and expecting life to be a painless process. No pain, no gain. As any Olympic athlete! As Zig Ziglar said, “You can get anything you want out of life IF you’re prepared to help enough other people to get what THEY want.” Tens of Millions of people have benefited and continue to benefit from John Fogerty’s commitment to excellence.
